Analysis and reuse of ground water near cooum river

In this paper, Groundwater quality in Chennai city along the Cooum river, on 6/7/2015 was analyzed. Groundwater samples were collected from 10 bore wells of the river. The analysis focused on the determination of ten specific water quality parameters, namely, pH, COLOUR, TDS, BOD, COD, HARDNESS, TURBIDITY, ALKALITY, METHYL ORANGE AND CHLORIDE using INDIAN STANDARDS procedures. The analysis of the collected samples reveals that the standard water quality parameters have nearly complied with the IS:10500 standards, but the water is fit for drinking and domestic purposes after treatment process.
